The news corpus has had categories for a long time (Politics, Technology, Artificial Intelligence, Science, Health and a dozen more) and the API could filter by them, but nothing told an agent they existed, so "technology news" came back as the whole corpus. Now the API lists them with how many articles each one brought this week and this month, trending takes one by name, and a wrong name or an unknown parameter is an error instead of a silent full listing. The skill and the MCP server know the endpoint.
