Douyin is the tenth network we track and by some distance the hardest one. It is where a billion people in China post short video, it runs entirely separately from TikTok, and almost nobody outside China can see inside it. You cannot even search it without an account.
That is exactly why it is worth tracking. Formats travel: a video structure that works on Douyin tends to show up on TikTok and Reels weeks later. Watching Douyin is watching the next few weeks of your own feed.
Titles, descriptions, creator names and hashtags are all translated to English after capture. The Chinese stays on the card next to the English, and both are searchable, so a colleague who reads Chinese can search the original words and everyone else can search the English.

Likes, saves, shares, comments and downloads are all real numbers read from the app itself, and there is no views column anywhere because there is nothing honest to put in it. Saves and shares are weighted above likes in the viral score, since on Douyin those are the deliberate acts.
Every cover image is copied to our own storage rather than hot-linked from a Chinese CDN we do not control. When that CDN expires a file or blocks foreign traffic, the card on your board still has its picture.
Capture is browser-side, through the ViralHunt extension, because Douyin signs every request from inside its own page and no server can ask it directly. Sixteen curated category channels are swept one after another.
