A quotes base: sourced quotes with author, rights and portraits, in the app and in the API

For quote posts and daily quote schedules: a base of quotes merged across sources, each with its author, the work it comes from, categories in English and Spanish, and whether the author's work is in the public domain. Author portraits come from Wikimedia Commons with their licence and credit. Read it at /quotes, or ask GET /v1/quotes for one that fits a category, a language and a length.

Quote cards were the most requested template and had no reliable source: an agent would invent the quote or the author. The base fixes that. Every quote is one canonical row, deduplicated across sources, with its author resolved on Wikidata for dates, a one-line description and rights: an author dead for more than seventy years is public domain, and the API returns those by default.

The app page. /quotes filters by category, language, length, author and rights, and copies the attribution ready to paste.
The API. GET /v1/quotes.php with a category or a mix of categories, lang, max_chars and author, sorted by relevance or at random. unused=1 returns quotes your organization has not posted yet, and mark_used records the ones you did.
Portraits. Where Wikidata has an image, a 1,200 px copy with licence, credit and source page, so a quote template can show the person.
Popularity, not counters. Each quote reports high, medium or low popularity. The raw numbers from the sources are an internal ordering signal and are never shown.

Three studio quote templates fill from this base, and a recipe can order "one quote a day in category X" for your agent to run.
