Bluesky is now tracked, with growth curves from day one

Viral Bluesky posts land in ViralHunt automatically every hour: their own page, the Radar, the dashboard and the API. Hashtags, categories and growth tracking included.

Bluesky is the ninth network we track, and the first one in a while that needed no browser extension at all. Its public API answers our servers directly, so discovery runs unattended on a schedule, the same way RSS does. Reddit blocks datacenter traffic and has to be captured from a logged-in browser. Bluesky does not.

What that means in practice is that you do not have to do anything. Posts show up on their own.

What you get

Growth curves, not just a snapshot

Every post gets re-measured on a schedule, and each measurement is recorded. The little chart on the card is that post's real history. Hover any point and it tells you the value, how much it gained since the previous measurement, and when it was taken.

You can also sort by Fastest growing, which ranks by measured gain instead of raw size. A post that arrived at 30,000 likes and never moved ranks below one that went from 200 to 9,000.

A curve needs at least two measurements, so a post captured in the last hour shows no line yet. That is deliberate. We would rather show nothing than draw a line through a single point.

Hashtags and categories

Bluesky posts carry their hashtags. We read them from the modern rich-text format and from plain #word in the text, because older clients only ever wrote the second kind and reading just one of them loses half of them without saying so. Tags are clickable on every card and they feed a hashtag filter.

Categories reuse the ones you already curate for Reddit instead of starting a parallel list. Add the relevant hashtags to a category and Bluesky posts file themselves under it, in the app and in the Radar's category filter.

How posts are found

Bluesky's "What's Hot" only shows what is peaking right now, which misses two whole categories of viral content: posts that built slowly, and proven accounts whose newest post has not caught fire yet. So discovery runs in three layers.

Images are kept

Thumbnails are copied to our own storage instead of hot-linking Bluesky's CDN. When a post gets deleted or the CDN expires its copy, the card in your board still has its picture.

We also published a directory of Bluesky feeds out of the same data, if you want to browse which custom feeds are worth following.
